FROM VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES TO BUSINESS PARTNERSHIPS....

Another way we help to promote literacy and learning is by leveraging technology. With Book Angel Story Time, volunteers read stories that we publish online. Learners can following along and strengthen  their literacy skills while enjoying a book read by caring adults, children and or youth in our community.

We need persons that can read books both in English and in other languages

We are in need of volunteers to help us inventory received donations and sticker books in our Wearhouse. The preparation of donated items is a vital part of our operations.

One of the ways that we get books to children and supplies to families is through community outreach. We often partner with special events, churches and food banks. Volunteers that help us in this capacity will help to set up and break down our spaces at these events. Volunteers will also hand out bags of books and or supplies to children.

Book Angel is in need of the following operational and administrative support:

5. Classroom evaluation
6. Coaching, Consulting and Support for Parents, Teachers and Administrative Staff
7. Tutoring for Elementary School Children
8. Test preparation for aspiring Teachers looking to gain their teacher certification
9. Parent/Teacher meeting support
10. eBooks, guides and online courses

 We are looking for individuals to be apart of this committee that is Chaired by LaTyon Henderson.

The Book Walk is a Carnival Style event an additional emphases on literacy and physical activity. Think your favorite's 5K event meets a carnival resource fair with the theme "Oh the Places You Will Go" by Dr. Seuss

Our Love2Read and Read-A-Thon Campaigns work to leverage technology to bring students together with family and friends to encourage reading to to build literacy skills. 

These events promises to be a fun, exciting journey for all participants as they begin a personal Reading Adventure that challenges each reader to complete at least 10 reading sessions over our 3 week event(s)

For these events to be successful we need volunteer Teacher/Leaders to help champion this initiative with a small group that is either assigned to you or that you recruit.  You will also be required to activate your own and help ensure that other children and their families activate their personal pages and log their reading minutes. 

Our last Read-A-Thon had 161 Participants with over 131,000 minutes read

The inaugural Lit Gala will happen September 2025. This event is chaired by Dr. Rachael Yvonne Davis. We are currently seeking a Co-Chair and a Host Committee. 

This event will serve as a formal fundraising event. 

In keeping with the theme of the "Lit Gala" - Literary Gala, attendees will dress in theme / character from their favorite children's book. It will be a  celebration of literacy, education, and we will also honor volunteers and others in the community for their lifetime achievements and resiliency.

We are in need of both local and international logistical support. 

1. Volunteers with trucks, vans, SUVs and cars are needed to help pick up donations from community supporters and partners and bring to our warehouse. Sometimes we may need volunteers to help us drive to drop off donations and supplies to those in need. 
2. For South Africa, we have over 10 pallets of Adult Diapers and other medical supplies that would greatly benefit nursing homes, a hospital, and families in rural areas that are taking care of elder adults. We need transportation/logistical support in getting the supplies to our contact(s) in South Africa for distribution. Donated pallet space on airplanes and or boats are greatly needed. Also, once in South Africa our contacts will need assistance to getting the supplies to a secured location where it will be processed and then distributed.
